Will you ever cut your baby’s hair?

Would you prefer to cut your baby’s hair by your own or would you take your baby to hair salon to get a professional hair cut?

Me? I would love to cut it by my own hands. I took my baby to get a hair cut at a salon before, but end up she was crying badly during the process. Ever since that day, I’ve decided to cut her hair on my own.

I fall in love with that. I love the interaction that I have between my baby, her daddy and I during the process. I just love the wonderful feeling. It is not that we, my husband and I are trying to save that few bucks to not go to salon, but we just love how we got together better during and after the process.

Elderly, my mil keep saying that both of us are too stingy that do not want to send her for a professional hair cut. I just kept quiet every time they complaint about it. They wipl never understand no matter how hard you try to explain to them. They have had their own perception, so why do I need to waste my time and energy to explain. I would rather to keep it for myself, for my family. As long as my baby enjoys it, my husband enjoys it, and I enjoy it.

I do not think that I gave her a bad hair cut tho.

I just do not wish to regret later about what I had missed.
Cheers,

Mommy vs Mummy

Most of my friends use ‘mummy’ as a reference to mother, but I use ‘mommy’. Whoever that used ‘mummy’ might think that I used it wrongly, but I remember I was taught that ‘mummy’ is reffered to a deceased human/animal whose skin is preserved. This is why I do not use the word ‘mummy’ to my mother. So please do your own study if you were to correct me.

However, there is no right or wrong in the recent days by using either ‘mummy’ or ‘mommy’ as a reference to a mother. There is this definition as UK english uses MUMMy and US english uses MOMMY.

My #8 Bento: Wasabi Mayonnaise Poached Chicken Bento

Prepared this bento at 630am. Made sandwich, cooked rice, poached chicken… … It was nearly 8am when everything was done :p

Wasabi Mayonnaise Poached Chicken:
1 chicken thigh (cut into bite size pieces)
1/4 medium size onion (cut into small pieces)

Sambal ikan bilis (anchovies):
Chili paste:
Dried chili
Fresh chili

Shallots
Belacan (shrimp paste)
(No exact amount, it depends on how much you want to make as this sambal – chili paste can be used to cook many dishes)
Blend all ingredients.
Note: Sometimes I will add lemongrass and blend together, this will make the chili paste more fragrant.

1/2 medium size onion (cut into thin slices)
Dried anchovies (cleaned a day before and air-dried the anchovies)
Tamarind juice (add water to tamarind paste and set aside)
Sugar (no exact amount)

My #7 Bento: Capsicum Chicken Bento

Little tomato was not feeling well today (I guess). She woke up at 5am to ask for water and playing. Gave her water and played with her, and she fell asleep again at 6am. Then only had my time to cook. Lucky enough I had prepared everything the night before :p

Main dish: Capsicum chicken.
Side dishes: Spinach, enoki and potatoes, celery kani salad, cheesy sausage and grapes ^^

Capsicum chicken:
1 chicken thigh
1/4 medium size capsicum (green bell pepper)
1/4 medium size carrot
Cut all ingredients into bite size pieces. Season chicken with black pepper and salt. Pan fried the chicken until no longer pink, then add in capsicum and carrote and stir fry. Add in worcestershire sauce (can get this from any japanese mart) and stir fry for another minutes.

Celery kani salad:
Blanch celery in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, and boil imitation crab sticks (kani) in boiling water for 2 minutes. Put them into a mixing bowl, add in salt, mayonnaise and mix well.
Note: This is also a filling for my sandwich.

Spinach:
Blanch in boiling water for a minute and soak in icy cold water for a minute. Squeeze out excess water and serve 🙂

Enoki potatoes:
1 small size potato
1/2 package enoki
Cut the potato into thin strips. Stir fry the potato strips with olive oil until they are half transparent. Add in enoki and stir fry until enoki turns soft. Add in salt and 1/2 teaspoon oyster sauce, stir fry for another 2-3 minutes.

What is Diagnostic Medical Sonographer?!

My fellow sonographers~~~

I was once offered a scan to someone (an arrogant, opinionated Chinese, one who thinks she knows everything because she is from rich family and her sister is a doctor-to-be!) before, then this person replied me:”like that I don’t have to go to my gynae loh! No need to visit my gynae already if you can do!” I was like, WHAT? Please, if you do not know what is SONOGRAPHER means, please google it! I am not a doctor. But, not all doctors do what I am doing (this is why we have SPECIALISTS)!!! Please stop this attitude friend(s)!!! You will not go far with this attitude!!!!

What is Diagnostic Medical Sonographer:
A sonographer, or ultrasonographer, is a healthcare professional, frequently a radiographer but may be any healthcare professional with the appropriate training, who specialize in the use of ultrasonic imaging devices to produce diagnostic images, scans, videos, or 3D volumes of anatomy and diagnostic data. The requirements for clinical practice vary greatly by country. Sonography requires specialized education and skills to view, analyze and modify the scan to optimize the information in the image. Because of the high levels of decisional latitude and diagnostic input, sonographers have a high degree of responsibility in the diagnostic process. Many countries require that medical sonographers have professional certification. Sonographers must understand ultrasound physics, cross sectional anatomy, physiology and pathology.

I am proud to be a well-trained sonographer. I am proud of what I am doing and I love what I am doing.

Sharing my second side dish: Radish salad. Original recipe by Maangchi’s: http://www.maangchi.com/recipe/musaengchae (Yes, I am her royal fans)

My recipe: For 3 servings/3 days “supplies” for my bento box

1. Peel the radish and cut into thin matchsticks, and put them into a mixing bowl. Add salt and mix well. Set aside for 5 minutes or more. Squeeze out the excess water from the radish.
2. Add minced garlic, green onion, vinegar, hot pepper flakes and sugar into the mixing bowl. Mix well by chopsticks.
